Mente et manu. A master’s hand is his signature .

The only perfect geometrical object is a sphere. A sphere symbolises perfection, and human handprints on a sphere express the human aspiration towards perfection. Tallinna Ehituskool is a place where these two come together – a sphere as a symbol of the ideal, and human hands as instruments that strive for the ideal.

The hand as a separate symbol is significant. The hand as a source of meditative activity – playing a musical instrument or handling a tool, gesticulating, waving. Hands can be fun, even playing an instrument. The oldest cave drawings do not represent people or cattle, but hands.
